Giving the Monkey a makeover!

As with any new opening, you get some things right and other aspects don’t work out quite as planned!

Based on our experiences over the last 8 months of running Red Monkey, we’ve learned that our customers love the karaoke rooms, the drinks and the food.

However, the current layout causes too many crush points and high traffic areas, the design isn’t cozy and ‘loungey’ enough and there’s too much of a difference in atmosphere between the rather formal upstairs and the crazy cat-strangling going on in the karaoke booths!

So, in response to the feedback we’ve had, we’ve made the decision to make a few changes…

As of 14th January, we are excited to announce that the venue will be re-launched as “The Dime” bar & diner.

Part dive bar, part diner, it will be given a vintage American makeover with a retro rock ‘n’ roll flavour, featuring everything from old 50s signage, rare old photos of rock and pop legends, custom neon art, a mix of new furniture and some other little tricks up our sleeve!

Our food menu will be pure transatlantic comfort food, with some seriously delicious sandwiches, gourmet burgers and appetizers on offer. You can even order fries served in your own personal chip pan!

Great house cocktails, fine wines and a selection of beers from the Americas will also be available, with a frozen margarita machine coming online in the Spring!

And of course the magic will still be happening in the basement in our three private karaoke rooms.

We hope you’ll love the changes which we think will make the bar more friendly, fun and a more relaxing place to just hang out!
